About This Dog for Adoption

Baxter's ideal home

Please welcome Baxter, our big handsome hunk! This loveable lad is super affectionate and loves to lean into you for cuddles. He can live with children aged 12 and over who won't mind a large clumsy boy! He does like his own space and would like to live as the only dog in the home; however, once settled in the home, there is a potential for him to have doggy walking friends who can tolerate his bouncy clumsy behaviour out and about. Like many Pointers, he is both smart and sniffy, knowing a ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘paw’ and ‘stay’, but up for more training with his handlers, as long as he’s not distracted by a smell close by! A super smelly treat is best to keep Baxters attention when training. He will need some training on the lead to help his adopters with his strength. Baxter has been toilet trained in the past and has been trying to continue this whilst he has been staying with us but unfortunately hasn’t always managed, so he would need a refresher in his new home. He would need a private garden to refresh his housetraining and give him a place to zoom off lead! Once settled into the home, Baxter may be able to be left for 1-2 hours at a time. However, this time should be built gradually with him to ensure he is confident in his new home and surroundings. Baxter will need to meet his adopters' multiple times prior to going home, so please bear this in mind when applying. Please note that should you be shortlisted, our rehoming process usually takes up to 7 days, and potential adopters would be required to come to the centre to meet him within 48hrs of being shortlisted.

Could you be Baxter's perfect match?

Baxter is the whole package, looks, brains and fun. This loveable 3-and-a-half-year-old German Wirehaired Pointer is looking for a new home with adopters who enjoy adventures and activities to keep both his brain and body busy. In return, you’ll have a super affectionate lad who loves to lean into you for cuddles! Come summertime, he’d love to get in the paddling pool to cool down once he’s had some fun and training. If you’re looking for your next adventure buddy, please consider Baxter!
