About This Dog for Adoption

Nova's ideal home

Nova is looking for a quiet and predicable home in a quieter area with loving adopters who can give her the time she needs to settle in, help her to build her confidence and advocate for her in situations she may find uncomfortable. Nova is a sweet, but worried girl, so can live with children aged 14 and over who will play with her nicely and give her space to rest and relax when she needs. She could live with a calm dog who will let her say hello at her own pace and will happily co-exist with her, this will be pending successful meetings at the centre, living with another dog is not a necessity, she could have a calm and polite walking buddy, she cannot live with cats or other small furries. Nova has a little training under her belt, she would benefit from training based around confidence building in short, sweet sessions. She will need a refresher on her housetraining, so access to a private, secure garden with high fencing is essential. Nova can be quite worried being left alone, so is looking for an adopter who is home the majority of the time, especially to begin with, any leaving time should be introduced slowly once she has had time to get used to her new home and routine and would ideally be after a walk so she can relax and have a snooze! Nova will need to meet her adopters multiple times prior to going home so please bear this in mind when applying. Please note that should you be shortlisted, our rehoming process usually takes up to 7 days, and potential adopters would be required to come up to the centre to meet her within 48hrs of being shortlisted.

Could you be Nova's perfect match?

Sweet but shy little lass Nova is a 1 year old Spaniel/Pointer Cross who finds the world a bit of a scary place. She loves going out on walks, especially in the woods where she can explore and sniff at her leisure. Once she has gotten to know new people and feels comfortable around them her playful and affectionate sides come out, she will chase around after toys that are thrown for her, and will come in for a fuss, she especially likes a neck scratch. This wonderful girl is looking for her new home.

Pointer Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a German Pointer.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the German Pointer Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
