About This Dog for Adoption
Argo's ideal home
One-year-old Argo is an energetic lad, seeking committed adopters, who are just as enthusiastic to teach him as he is to learn. Being a high-drive breed, Argo thrives in environments where he can stay mentally and physically engaged. He is friendly and affectionate with people, enjoying cuddles and forming strong bonds with his family. However, he can become bouncy and over-excitable at times, so would be best suited to a home with college-aged children who are confident around larger breeds. Argo is good at reading other dogs and interacts with them well when on lead and also enjoys running about off lead with those that match his energy. However, he can sometimes bark when he sees another dog, because he is so excited to go over and see them, which can worry some dogs. Similarly, he can be worried when dogs are barking at him and will go to his handler for comfort. Despite being a sociable boy, Arlo will need to be the only pet at home as he has been known to guard toys. He is house-trained but may need some support settling back in, especially after spending time in a kennel and a garden of his own would be beneficial for this, as well as having an area to burn off steam. Leaving Argo alone at home must be built up very gradually and only once he is fully settled into his new routine.
Could you be Argo's perfect match?
Argo loves food and is very trainable, making him an excellent candidate for learning new skills. Keeping him busy with scent work, enrichment games, and classes like gundog training would be hugely beneficial for this fun-loving pooch. He also enjoys activities like tug and destruction boxes, which help redirect his energy. He loves to follow his nose during walks and needs regular exercise, ideally two one-hour walks a day. If you are an active family who have the time to continue Argo’s training, provide consistent routines, and engage him in mentally stimulating activities, then he may just be the dog for you!
